Senior Private Equity Manager (fund raising, deal origination, transaction management, Africa focused, entrepreneurial flair), Johannesburg, South Africa
Introduction
To play a senior role in the Private Equity business which shall include origination, execution and post deal maintenance of the various investments concluded. This will also entail assisting in providing direction and leadership towards achievement of the business unit’s strategy and annual goals.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing the Group’s Private Equity capability across Africa
- Grow the deal pipeline and create a highly profitable business
- Leverage off the group’s existing capabilities, strong African footprint and brand presence
- There will be some responsibility related to the business development efforts in current and new countries in Africa. Some of these may be outside the typical sphere of private equity
- Devising and executing the business strategy, more specifically transaction origination, evaluation, negotiation, execution and post deal maintenance
- Assisting and building, managing and motivating the teams, and fostering a productive working relationship with colleagues in the various countries
Requirements:
It is essential that the candidate must have extensive experience with all aspects of private equity, including: fund raising, deal origination, transaction management, evaluations, negotiations, M & A and deal maintenance and exiting transactions.
- MBA / CFA / CA (SA) or equivalent and have 10 years’ experience, 7+ years must be spent in a relevant private equity role
- Management experience
- South African Citizen with a good command of the English language
- Experience in Africa preferred
- High degree of perseverance
- An entrepreneurial flair
- Able to work in an unstructured environment
- Must be passionate about Africa
- Team Player
- Willing to travel into Africa
