Regional Finance Manager - Banking - Botswana - Portuguese

Position – Regional Finance Manager

To assist the Group Finance Manager in the implementation of financial policies and procedures, financial reporting, forecasting and budgeting and related aspects of the group for specific subsidiaries that have banking operations in addition to traditional consumer finance operations.

Required for Competence:

- CA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent
- Bilingual – English and Portuguese
- Previous work experience in Mozambique
- 6 years continuous relevant experience, with at least 2 years Management experience
- Experience in group financial reporting
- Multi-currencies
- All MS applications

Responsibilities:

- Reviewing the production and quality of internal and external financial and related reports for both the regional banking subsidiaries.

INTERNAL

- Checking that the monthly management accounts of the Group and subsidiaries are produced on time and to a satisfactory quality (accurate information with meaningful variance analysis), in conjunction with respective CEOs;
- Reviewing and checking the annual budgets and forecasts to be produced on time, in line with Group targets and to a satisfactory quality;
- Reviewing subsidiary cash flow forecasts and projections;
- Ad hoc financial analyses and inputs to be reviewed and produced as required.

EXTERNAL

- Co-ordinating the preparation of, providing input to, and also reviewing the content of the statutory financial statements – with on-going improvements and involvement of auditors, to be of increasing quality from year to year and as incorporating best practice reporting as comprehensively as possible

OPERATIONS AND POLICY AND PROCEDURE

- Ensuring compliance with all aspects of the Group’s policies and procedures (as impacted by the finance department)
- E.g. Monitor and perform checks on operational activities as necessary to ensure compliance with group’s policies and procedures as they relate to the banking subsidiaries
- E.g. Ensuring the finance teams’ adherence to operational controls, daily procedures, and reviewing the overall control system;
- E.g. Monitoring and enforcing sufficient quality control is applied in daily maintenance of the company GLs e.g. how journals are posted, or what basis is used for accrual, and that necessary key controls are implemented, performance of reconciliations
- Contributing to the formulation and constant improvement of finance policies and procedures and ensuring that these are aligned to Group objectives at all times;
- Ensuring daily cash management procedures are in place
- Enforcing group reporting on arrears management and credit policy reporting
- Ensuring that contents and presentation of monthly management accounts, forecasting and budgeting is constantly revised and reviewed for improvements

General:

- Assist the Group Finance Manager (GFM) on projects on an on-going basis
- Assist the GFM on banking compliance issues for the banking subsidiaries
- Assist the GFM on ALCO management and risk management
- Assist the GFM on tax planning
- Assist the GFM on systems and their impact on the financial and management reporting
