Description
The purpose of this role is to:
- To provide Commercial Support, especially in respect to finance and supply / logistics matters for an iron ore mine. Compliance to corporate and IFRS reporting and internal control procedures as well as group procedures for supply, procurement and stores.
- To compile and review on a regular basis, reports that demonstrate the current position and performance of the company in respect to financial, statutory and internal performance measures. To manage and train personnel within the department and within the wider company generally.
Accountabilities
- Delivering a safe workplace place in respect to personnel and the environment for the storage of physical stocks, chemicals and other general items.
- Ensure compliance with relevant HSE policies, procedures, objectives and regulations and the commitment to achieving Zero Harm through safe behaviours.
- Ensure compliance with relevant HR policies, procedures, objectives and regulations through appropriate behaviours.
- Supervising people in the finance, procurement and IT areas as required. Direct reports include Supply Superintendent, Accounting Superintendent, Senior Accountant, IT Superintendent and as required the direct reports of these positions.
- Implementing and supervising the financial controls and costing / reporting processes at the operation in accordance with group policies,
- The provision of high level technical and professional support information to the General Manager and the Management Team,
- Supervising and ensuring control systems and operating processes are consistent with group policy in respect to Procurement, Warehousing and Logistics to site,
- Reporting in a timely and accurate manner to the corporate office in accordance with required timelines and content.
- Developing budget plans consistent with operational goals.
The Commercial Manager will require knowledge, skills and experience in the following areas:
- Tertiary studies to degree level in accounting or finance
- High level of numeracy/literacy
- Advanced user of MS Office
- Demonstrable high level of exposure and utilisation of medium and large scale accounting packages and ideally exposure to SAP or PRONTO. Experience in a SAP implementation would be an advantage
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role within the mining industry, especially during the start-up phase or consolidation phase of the operation.
- Experience in managing finance and supply teams.
- Should be a leader and a team builder with well-developed written and oral communication skills.
